We attended Rhode Island Manufacturers Association’s (RIMA) workshop, “Manufacturing 4.0: The New Way To Do Business.” We were excited to exhibit at the first RIMA workshop of the year. It was a morning packed with informative discussions focusing on the technological changes in manufacturing.

We want to thank everyone who stopped by our booth! We love talking to local companies about their business and IT problems. Since many of our clients are manufacturers, we make it a point to regularly attend trade shows and workshops, so we can stay up to date with what’s going on in the industry!

During the workshop, we listened to speakers, Dan Dwight, President & CEO of Cooley/Group, Dave Brousell, Co-Founder of the Manufacturing Leadership Council, and Christian Cowan, Polaris MEP. The speakers all stressed the importance of manufacturers making the shift to Manufacturing 4.0.

Manufacturing 4.0 focuses on the fourth industrial revolution currently taking place in manufacturing companies across the globe. With this movement, business owners should begin to implement automation, data exchange and reporting, cyber security, and cloud computing technologies. The underlying message was clear; manufacturers must adapt to these changes if they wish to remain competitive.

This shift doesn’t have to happen overnight. The ultimate end goal is to build a scalable, secure, and digitally connected environment. If manufacturers hope to implement these technologies, they need a solid IT foundation.
